Abel Salazar, a scientist and an artist persecuted by the Fascist regime in the 40ies, is trying to finish a portrait, obsessed by the face of a woman. Ana, a young researcher in the present days, is dreaming about him. Or is it the other way round?

The film examines some complex dilemmas within three generations of one family. Through the painting of a portrait we are asked to consider: Is it ever better not to know some things than to know them? Does secrecy protect or damage those we love? Can all things be forgiven and forgotten?

His wife is ready to leave him because all he does is work on the time piece and believes the papers are a hoax. What happens if he gets the watch to work? What happens if he gets the watch to work and something terrible happens after he freezes time?
